Before you start
What to sort out before launch night so you can play the moment it unlocks.
The date
The game releases on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed the unlock time yet. Preload starts at local midnight on 12 November, so midnight on launch day is likely. There is no PC version at launch, and it is single-player at launch.
Editions
Two editions are on sale: Standard at NOK 949 and Ultimate at NOK 1,189. Ultimate is the game plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade: premium vehicles, weapons and clothes for Jason and Lucia across the whole story, with new items unlocked in each chapter. Both PlayStation and Xbox sell it.
Pre-order bonus
Pre-order the game, or buy it before 20 November, and you get the Vintage Vice City Pack.
GTA+
A digital pre-order includes one month of GTA+. On PlayStation the membership renews by itself until you cancel it, and you have to redeem the month by 31 March 2027. If you don’t want to pay for a second month, cancel before it renews.
Preload
Preload opens on 12 November. Start it the day it opens: the download is large, and launch-night servers are slow. A physical copy doesn’t save you the download. The box holds a download code, and physical copies go on sale on 12 November.
Buying in Norway
The standard digital edition is NOK 949 on the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store. The PlayStation Store charges you when you pre-order, not on release day. Physical copies come from the usual Norwegian retailers.
What Rookdex does on launch night
The home page turns into your dashboard at midnight. Install the site on your phone before then, so it works even when the wifi is busy. Once the game unlocks, your first hour covers what to check and what you can skip.
